5 Fantastic Coral-Pink Blushes

If you’re not enamored of corals as much as I am, you may lump them all together as “coral,” but there is a definite distiction between a coral-pink and a coral-orange (and to an extent, coral-red!). There are corals that pull pinker, so they appear less warm, peach, and orange on the skin tone, while there are corals that pull warmer, so they appear redder, more orange, and peachier.

  1. Tarina Tarantino Parasol — shimmering coral-pink with a champagne shimmer-sheen
  2. NARS Orgasm — classic pink base with golden sheen that translates to a pink-coral
  3. theBalm Frat Boy — coral pink with just a faint sheen
  4. MAC Posey — pink-coral cream blush
  5. Tarte Glisten — medium-dark pink base color with a golden sheen

I tested out 3 popular drugstore brand glosses:Maybelline’s SuperStay 24 Color in Blush On, Revlon’s ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor in Neverending Nude, and L’Oreal’s Infallible Never Fail Lipcolour in Hibiscus.

Quality

Maybelline: 9/10
This gloss did a great job staying on all day. It withstood eating, drinking, and talking. I only had to re-apply the chapstick 2-3 times and that was mostly to give my lips moisture, not to keep the color on.

Revlon: 5/10
This gloss applied similar to the other two, but as the day wore on, it cracked and flaked. I tried to re-apply gloss to smooth out the flakes, but it didn’t help. The flaking looked so bad after a couple of hours that I tried to remove the color all together, but it wouldn’t come off even with scrubbing. It wasn’t until I got back home and could use an oil-based remover that I got it off. So, in terms of staying power, this gloss is great–it won’t budge. But the weird flaking it caused was frustrating and unattractive. The caking and flaking was so weird that I thought I must not have exfoliated my lips properly. So I tried again the next day, but the same thing happened (admittedly not as badly). The gloss also has an off-putting smell, but you can’t really smell it after it’s applied.

L’Oreal: 9/10
This gloss did a great job staying on all day, much like Maybelline’s gloss. It withstood eating, drinking, and talking. I only had to re-apply the chapstick 2-3 times and that was mostly to give my lips moisture, not to keep the color on. The color faded only very slightly on the innermost part of the lips (closest to the teeth).

Ease of Use

With all of these glosses, you first apply the color side and wait at least 1 full minute for it to dry. The gloss will feel tacky and drying at the same time. You’ll then apply the chapstick or clear gloss on top of the color.

Maybelline: 9/10
Applying is simple. The slanted doe-foot applicator lets you get precise application and the chapstick is easy to apply on top.

Revlon: 8.5/10
This applies the same as the other two, except that you have to go back and do multiple applications because the applicators for both the color and gloss are small.

L’Oreal: 9/10
Applying is simple. The slanted doe-foot applicator lets you get precise application and the chapstick is easy to apply on top.

Price

Maybelline: 9/10
You get 0.077 fl oz of color for about $8. Of the 3 glosses, you get the most for your money with Maybelline.

Revlon: 9/10
You get 0.07 fl oz of color for $8.

L’Oreal: 8.5/10
You get 0.077 fl oz of color for $10. This is the most expensive of the 3 glosses.

). Shimmering Facial Whip £1.50

Image taken from eyeslipsface.com

I love these because they are so versatile, cheap and last ages. A little really goes a really really long way. I have citrus and camilia. I like both but I prefer citrus; the lovely ELF girls helped me chose it and it’s a wonderfully subtle shade on me which I can happily wear as a cream blush on it’s own or layer underneath powder blush to give the shimmer an extra oomph and staying power. I also use these as an eyeshadow primer, it makes the colours pop and ensures it stays put all day. I also dab a little on my cupid’s bow, arches of my eyebrows…anywhere really that needs a bit of highlighting!

2). Studio Cream Eyeliner £3.50

Image from eyeslipsface.co.uk

These little pots are amazing!! These were the first cream / gel liners I’d ever tried and I fell in love almost immediately. I thought they would be really fiddly, but no, these just glided on and once set, won’t budge. Since I bought my first one ELF have come out with loads more funky colours. I’ve since tried some other more expensive and high end brands and I much prefer my ELF ones!

3). Studio Complexion Perfection

Image from eyeslipsface.co.uk

I’ve raved about this product before in the past and I use it every single day. I’ve gone through about 3 of these already and will be needing another one soon. I’d be devastated if ELF ever stopped making these. Definitely one of my holy grail products. Click here to read my full review of this wonderful little compact!

4). Studio Powder Brush £3.50

Image from eyeslipsface.co.uk

I love love love love this brush and I know lots of people who would agree with me! I have about a dozen of these; I mainly use it for liquid foundations as it is incredible for buffing it in! It also works great with pressed powders, so I use it for buffing in my complexion perfection compact, pressed powder and I sometimes use it for applying blush as well! It’s a brush I think every girl needs.

5). Mineral Booster in Sheer £5.00 (large) / Studio HD Powder £6.00

Images from eyeslipsface.co.uk

I’m cheating a little bit here…I know this is technically 2 products…but I love both and I use both in the same way…these are setting powders and just give your skin an amazing glowing finish. I don’t think my skin has ever looked healthier! I tend to use the mineral booster on a regular day to day basis and the HD powder on nights out or events where lots of photographs will be taken. The reason for this is that the HD powder does look lovely, but it doesn’t come into its own until photos are taken, so I like to save it for such occasions.

6). Nail Polish £1.50

Image from budgetbabe.com

What can I say? Great polishes, great colours, great staying power and an amazing price. My current favourite is smoky brown, sooo pretty!

7). Luscious Liquid Lipstick £1.50

Image from eyeslipsface.co.uk

I think these are equally one of my favourite lip products ever. I have really dry skin and lips and have to be quite careful what products I use on my lips as I find a lot of things tend to be too drying for me. That’s why these are so perfect if you find that you get dry, chapped lips easily. They give you a lovely pop of colour whilst nourishing your lips.

8). Duo Eyeshadow £1.50

Image from eyeslipsface.co.uk

I have a massive eyeshadow addiction and these are adorable. The colours are really pretty and versatile, the shadows are pigmented and blend easily. I also like how the two colours correspond and match, I’m not very good at matching shadows, so these make the mornings so much easier for me! The little pot is also sturdy enough for me not to worry about them whilst travelling.

9). Eyelid Primer £1.50

Image from eyeslipsface.co.uk

I never put shadow on without this, it makes it so much easier to blend my shadow, lasts for ages and is an absolute bargain! Need I say more?

10). Studio Warm Bronzer £3.50

Image from eyeslipsface.co.uk

I actually have all 3 of the studio bronzers, but the warm one is definitely my favourite. The compact is well pressed, the powder very finely milled and gives you a wonderful fresh, glowing complexion. A little also goes a long way and mine from last summer is still going strong. I use this almost everyday.

The  Best of Nyx
Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencils:
These chubby little pencils are great for bases under eyeshadow. ‘Milk’ makes colors pop  like its nobodys business and ‘Black Bean’ is great for a smokey eye Base
Nyx Cream Blushes:
Theyv got a really great blendable formula and come in stunning color.’Glow’ is a great pink, Tea Rose is a pretty, earthy everyday kind of color and Natural is quite lovely too!
Nyx Powder Blushes:
While they might not last too long, the range of colors they come in is just amazing. Mocha is a lovely dusty pinks for indian skin , Nyx Peach & Pinky are two great ones for lighter girls and Nyx Terracotta is a whole lot of golden shimmer for a night out!
Nyx Eyeshadow Base:
Probably the best Budget eyeshadow base in the market currently. It really solves my creasing dilemma and makes colors show. It might not extend the wear of eyeshadow by too much, but since creasing is my main issue i like it !
Nyx Chrome Pigments:
Ultra Pigmented and Silky Smooth, although slightly powdery. These pigments are must have’s if you are a Pigment Girl
Nyx Single Eyeshadows:
At the price they come, they are very value for money. They are pigmented and blendable!
Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams:
I love my Soft Matte Lip cream in Sao Paulo – it is a bright berry pink, intensely pigmented and long lasting. The Lip Creams are essentially the best of the lipstick and lipgloss world-pigmented like lipsticks and easy to apply and wet like lipglosses. It does settle into lines, but i can live with it..

The In Between
Nyx Round Lipsticks:
While i adore how incredibly creamy, smooth and pigmented they are, i find that they are slightly flimsy and dont last long at all. They also Melt easily and some of them have a tacky finish, However, Nyx Frappucino is one of my favourite nude lipsticks ever, so if i find a nice shade i definitely do buy these!!
Nyx Studio Liquid Liner:
The colors that this comes in is just ‘Bananas!’. I have the extreme plum purple one and its stunning, but it doesn;t have the best finish. It does tend to crack up when its dry on your lid and peel off
Nyx Eyeshadow Palette:
The only reason that they are in the ‘In Between’ section and not in the best section is that the quality differs from palette to Pallette. I love my ‘Nyx for Brown Eyes’ Palette, but  i have tried others which lacked in the pigmentation department and were slightly chalky.
Nyx Brushes:
Another consistency issue. Some are brilliant, and affordable…some are just too thick or too wide.
Nyx Round Lip Glosses:
I like these a lot but they smell like detergent powder.

The Worst of Nyx
Nyx Nail Polishes: i have tried 3 and been dissapointed with all of them. WHile the end result loks good, its just streaky to apply and too thin. It gets patchy and untidy.
Nyx Loose Pearl Pigment:
Its just too powdery,  but the main issue is that the packaging is so inconvenient that no brush fits inside the pack. So you need to take it out of the bottle (like how people take our supari in their hand..ick) to use it.
Nyx Lip Gloss Palette:
Just poor pigmentation, aweful waxy texture. There is no way i would recommend these pallettes!

Eve Pearl Salmon Concealer

undefined

This concealer is best for under the eyes as it has a gel-like consistency.  It doesn’t cake up, yet is pigmented enough to cover the darkest of undereye circles.  (The color I have is “tan”)  I apply this under my foundation in a thin layer (watch my Flawless Face Video to see how I apply it)

Price: $35

Where to Buy: (Makeup Geek Store)

Peter Thomas Roth Un Wrinkle Concealer

This concealer is great for brightening up the undereye area! It is super smooth, doesn’t cake up, yet covers really well.  Since it doesn’t have that orange/peach color like the Eve Pearl Concealer, it is best applied on top of the foundation just for that extra coverage.  If you want to hide blueness under the eyes, go with the Eve Pearl  (I use both this and the Salmon Concealer for under the eyes)

Price: $35

Where to Buy: Amazon or eBay

MAC Studio Finish Concealer

This concealer is best for blemishes as it has a thick consistency and covers well.  I don’t recommend using this under the eyes as it will tend to look cakey.  The trick for this one is to apply a little at a time in thin layers.

Price: $16.50

Where to Buy: MAC or  Amazon or eBay

Make Up For Ever Camouflage Cream

undefined

This is another great concealer for hiding those blemishes!  The consistency is similar to the MAC one but isn’t quite as thick.  I used to use this under the eyes, but I find that it can cake up as it doesn’t have the gel like consistency.   But if you need a good concealer for blemishes or scars, this one is great!

Price: up to $36

*It seems that Sephora only carries the camouflage palette which is $36.  MUFE does sell the single pots which are cheaper- you can call the MUFE store in NYC

Where to Buy: Amazon or  Sephora or  eBay

Color Description:   Pale muted peachy-beige

Finish: Satin

Looks Best On: fair to medium skin

Where to Buy: (MAC)   (eBay)

Peachstock

I like this one as an almost nude color- the pale peach color warms up the lips but doesn’t make you look ashen.  This is a pro only color (I hate how MAC does that!), but if you can find it, it’s my favorite peach lipstick!

Color Description: a neutral peach

Finish: Satin

Looks Best On: fair or medium skin

Where to Buy: (MAC)   (eBay)

Another great pink lipstick that is intense but not overly bright.  I like wearing this with a smudged black eyeliner and thick lashes for that bombshell type look!

Where to Buy: (MAC)   (eBay)
